ECE were appointed by Guildford Borough Council to provide design, contract administration and project management on the refurbishment of Millmead House, located in a conservation area in Guildford Town Centre. This project is of high community significance, being the principle location where the residents of Guildford can engage with their borough council. The new public spaces that are being provided meet a very wide range of community requirements from formal council meetings to delicate adjudications with a range of parties and professional advisers. The project consists of the reorganisation of reception and the refurbishment of the council chamber and committee rooms, councillors rooms and canteen along with electrical upgrades throughout. The design brief is to provide a striking design that looks towards the commercial world for inspiration while providing excellent community engagement possibilities at all levels.
