This project will provide 15 affordable homes designed to the Passivhaus Standard. Using the fabric first approach the houses will be energy efficient, minimising costs for the future residents. The airtightness of the buildings, optimised solar gains, a continuous thermal envelope, the use of compact units- which offer energy efficient heating, tempered air and hot water and ventilation, will also play a part in making those homes energy efficient. While innkeeping with the local architecture style of the traditional pitched roof form and use of brick and clay, yet with a modern twist of hidden gutters, brick detailing and asymmetric roofs for a larger surface area for sky lights and solar panels.
