Set within a protected woodland we designed, gained planning permission and built out an innovative structure that sits on 54 posts and a lightweight, elevated steel frame deck. It provides a spacious building of 5 classrooms, hall, staff room, bathrooms and entrance hall. The building appears to float amid the school’s surrounding woodland and incorporates a plethora of sustainable materials and methods. The elegant butterfly roof creates light and airy teaching spaces on this extremely constrained site. This building has transformed the whole school site. Visible from the entrance, this contemporary building is unobtrusive, nestled into the woodland.
