dwell design were appointed to design a single-storey modern extension and internal reconfigurations to a dated 1950 3-bedroom house. Daylight, garden views and a living space that linked with the existing house were key design objectives for this contemporary project. Full height glazing, an open plan living space and an elevated dining space are some of the features to maximise its potential. The ground floor extension allows for carefully framed garden vistas and optimises the connections between internal and external spaces. A simple palette of red tile hanging timber and aluminium glazing compliments the extension’s bold form. A pre-fabricated timber frame system was used for ease of construction. The finished property is completely transformed from it's previous gloomy atmosphere and the clients are really enjoying making the most of this modern and contemporary design.
