Chichester
£20,000 to £49,999
dwell design gained planning permission to refurbish and extend this semi-detached 1950s house in Chichester in November 2011. Working with an existing rear gable extension, construction was completed in May 2012. The existing ground floor was sympathetically upgraded to create a more open plan feel where the new build successfully links with the original. A timber frame gable roof annexe to the rear creates a seamless addition to the existing house. Bi-folding doors create strong connections between the garden and open-plan living spaces, with the internal wooden flooring and outdoor decking providing a seamless connection. dwell design assisted the clients with budget and project management and coordinated subcontractors throughout the full process. The extension is made from SIPs panels, making initial construction quick and the new areas highly insulated. The successful design and delivery of the project demonstrates how to achieve a dramatic result on a restricted budget.
