This contemporary highly sustainable family home was built in a conservation area in Cardiff. The existing bungalow located on a tight triangular site behind a high wall was demolished to make way for the new timber framed house. The house was built to Passiv Haus standards and uses stone and cladding panels to reflect the materials in the area. After careful pre-planning the build was started in April 2017 with the client moving in just 4 months later. We are continuing to monitor the performance of the building to adjust the shading if required following its first full year of occupation. The house was shortlisted for the RSAW 2018 Welsh Architecture Awards
