Restoration of 13 and 14 Pembroke Street, Oxford has created for Pembroke College eight delightful en-suite student rooms and two seminar rooms from this characterful 1640's merchant's house. Serious structural deterioration required the total reconstruction of the south-facing three-storey bays to support the timber framed upper floors. New mechanical, electrical and IT facilities were challenging to install into such an irregular shaped building but have resulted in a comfortable and popular residential enclave with a south facing paved and landscaped garden opening into the College Quads.
