Alteration to existing property, Within a Conservation Area

The brief was to perform an exemplar refurbishment of an existing, tired commercial office building in Richmond, that would appeal to smaller yet forward-thinking occupiers with the aspiration to grow within Richmond’s amenity-rich environment. The scheme maximises the potential of the site through a sensitive refurbishment and additional two-storey extension, with private terraces, on top of the existing massing. Its immediate context and rich local heritage were key influencers in the schemes development and have delivered a proposal that enhances the local street scene and its connection with Richmond. By retaining the existing concrete frame and brickwork façade, the scheme has maximised its 're-purpose' credentials while new energy efficient services and façade blend together to create this low-carbon development.
