Employing a bold, sleek building form, the concept for the Garden Battery Towers are two co-joined towers that are considered as the modernist jewel of Sliema. This building is split in two parts and angled to celebrate the key views to and from Valetta, views across the Mediterranean and inland across the island. The building orientation is informed by the site constraints and accentuated further to deliver a contemporary building that presents itself to Pjazza Tigné, Sliema and across to Manoel Island and Valetta. Designed as being Malta’s premier residential tower, design standards have been adopted that are reflective of Midi’s aspiration for the Q3 development to be a demonstration of elevated Mediterranean luxury. Clean lines and sleek building form provides the architectural skeleton on to which the personality and warmth of Maltese/Mediterranean living is represented by timbers, screens and brise soleil to represent human scale and the building’s personality. Employing a double glazed skin, that represents principles of represent the traditional Maltese windows, the outer glazed skin on two main facades provides the weather and wind protection for a building of this height. The resulting inner zone allows the residents to have an open window lifestyle without the full impact of the prevailing or strongest winds. Windbreak screens are introduced at the end elevations, where there is a greater variety of building form, allowing the colour and style of the apartments to be seen.
