Sited in Greenbelt land
A two-storey extension to a rural family home, to create a sociable living space connected to the garden and additional bedrooms at first floor. The Client was looking for a bold, eye-catching scheme, and we proposed a 'shadow' of the original brick house, clad in charred timber, with an profiled metal roof in keeping with local agricultural buildings. The extension would emerge from the form of the original building, orientated to capitalise on the southern aspect of the garden. An adjacent garage and a new entrance porch on the north elevation would also replicate the same materials and design character as the new two-storey extension. The property is located within the Green Belt, and extensive negotiations took place with the planning authority to secure the necessary consents.
