Unit 6, Anfre Estate , Route de la Garenne , St Peter Port , Guernsey , GY1 2RL
A traditional Guernsey Barn Conversion. La Frêne incorporates contemporary methods and technologies into the conversion a traditional guernsey barn. The house focusses heavily on sustainable technologies, high thermal performance and a locally reclaimed material palette. The design features a mixture of intimate and private spaces centred around an open plan living area, utilising the building's solar orientation and engaging with the garden. Upstairs two ensuite bedrooms are nestled within a bespoke oak frame and warm roof construction. A variety of natural materials have been used from the oak roof structure, wrapped in reclaimed welsh purple slate and clad beneath in unfinished Scandinavian larch. Tumbled travertine and reclaimed cobbles line the recycled glass heated floor whilst the reused granite has been media blasted to reveal its vibrant colour variation. The home is designed to accommodate lifetime flexibility, not requiring any major modifications to adapt for the client in their later years. We believe it is important to design for the future, without compromising the present. CLIENT TESTIMONIAL: "I approached DLM to design and build me a new house that had traditional character combined with the features and comforts of modern living. Downsizing meant I required a very clever solution to meet my storage needs and lifetime enjoyment of the property. On time, on budget and beyond my dreams, I am very happy in my cosy new home."
