Cheshire West and Chester
Within a Conservation Area, Alteration to existing property, Listed Building - Grade II*
A 72 unit residential-led development incorporating the restoration of grade II* listed industrial heritage buildings together with new-build elements. The scheme seeks to reinstate the Shot Tower as a celebrated Chester landmark and the site as an integral part of the wider regeneration of the city of Chester and the Boughton Canalside Conservation Area. The new-build residential apartment blocks, sensitively designed and connected to the existing buildings, reflect the industrial heritage of the former lead-works using a palette of copper and grey standing seam metal cladding and Cheshire red brick. Three townhouses will sit alongside a mix of one, two and three bedroom apartments and duplex apartments across the new-build and listed elements. New public realm will connect the north and south side of the Shropshire Union Canal with the new business quarter and the rail station. Following positive consultations with local interest groups, the local authority planning department and Heritage England, the scheme has received full planning approval.
