An individual house for a private developer, the site had an existing planning permission. By working with the topography of the steeply sloping site DJD Architects were able to enlarge the floor area by 50%, without raising the roof level, in order to incorporate 5 bedrooms, a study, dining room, living room, large kitchen and breakfast room and integral garage, across 3 storeys. The site benefits from spectacular views across the Cotswolds and the house was designed to maximise the opportunities for enjoyment of this fantastic asset. Whilst externally the house respects the local venacular and uses traditional materials and detailing, it is designed to accommodate modern family living. The specification also included a variety of environmentally sustainable technologies including rain water harvesting, high levels of insulation and a ground source heat pump heating system.
