Worcester
£5m to £9.99M
DJD Architects obtained planning permission to regenerate the former Royal Albert Orphan Asylum site in Worcester for student accommodation. Conversion of the Grade II listed Victorian Gothic buildings provided 91 en-suite bedrooms and cluster apartments, along with common facilities and group study areas. A new building with 72 bedrooms draws from the original building’s features, creating a central courtyard amenity space, making a cohesive development that maximised the site’s potential. Construction was procured under two separate contracts: a traditional contract for the listed building, with DJD Architects retained as architect, and a design and build contract for the new building.
