‘YouScape’ resulted from the collaboration of students of Graveney and Glenthorne Schools in South West London in response to the ‘Empowering Platforms’ competition for the London Festival of Architecture, 2020. DesignBox ran the competition entry as a student-led design exercise focusing on collaboration and a dynamic of positively shared ideas. This competition was the ideal project to develop with students. Acknowledging that young people are our future and the next generation of Londoners, it was important to understand what was of value to them and develop an architectural response from there. As a team we were excited to design a truly empowering platform. YouScape is an urban outdoor garden library. It is a place to relax and escape from the pressures of London. It is designed as an oasis in the City, somewhere to escape to, connect with nature and engage with literature.
