The Machrie Golf Links and Hotel is situated on the Isle of Islay, off the west coast of Scotland. It is a remote and very beautiful location, which made the redevelopment of this Golf resort a very special project. As Project Manager, DesignBox first secured the consent to connect to the water mains, with a 3.6KM pile-line across several adjacent farms. This was key to unlocking the business case for the Machrie Hotel and enabled its refurbishment to proceed. In a sequence of programmed works, DesignBox Project Managed the redevelopment the upgrade the remaining service infrastructures, asbestos removal from the original hotel, partial demolition of the original hotel building, and construction of the new hotel. The Machrie Hotel successfully reopened its doors in September 2018.
