Cotswold
£50,000 to £99,999
Listed Building - Grade II, Sited in AONB, Within a Conservation Area
In 2017 Design Storey were approached by the Guild of Handicraft, to explore designs for a 10 year refresh of the prestigious Court Barn Museum in Chipping Campden. The museum, which celebrates the story of the arts & crafts movement in the Cotswolds region, was described as ‘…surely the most delightful small museum in England’ by Clive Aslet in Country Life. 3.jpg Our proposals for the ‘refresh’ seek to significantly improve the visitor experience by developing Court Barn’s interpretation and displays to meet the needs of current and future audiences. The main exhibition area and shop has been enhanced, significant recent acquisitions are able to be displayed for the first time and local makers have a greater presence. A new 360 degree glazed cabinet, featuring a selection of objects, was installed in phase I of the project. Design Storey have co-ordinated the design work, assisted with the funding application to the Heritage Lottery Fund and project managed the build. The museum was due to re-open to the public in March 2020 , however due to covid-19 the official re-opening was postponed until this year.
