About the practice

Deeper Green is a RIBA chartered practice of architecture and was founded in 2020 by Ian McKay, bring-ing 25 years of experience as a practicing architect and architectural educator directed towards the pur-suit of sustainable design in the built environment. Our mission is to find beautiful solutions by design towards a sustainable future. Our belief is that great architecture can bring joy and wellbeing as well as be constructed and operated responsibly within the bounds of the Earth's finite resources and the 'car-rying capacity' of the eco-system. We are looking to work with clients and construction professionals who share a commitment to respond responsibly to the climate challenges we face. As a sustainable design consultancy for the built environment, we provide expert strategic advice on a wide range of building typologies and scales. As an architectural practice, we offer a full range of RIBA design ser-vices on smaller architectural projects where we bring a strong focus on cost management, eco-retrofit, the use of locally sourced mineral and bio-based materials, design for deconstruction and circular re-source use.
