New Build
David Walker Architects , 39 Great Portland Street , LONDON , W1W 7JZ
Monument Place aims to overcome the townscape and quality deficiencies of the existing Centurion House and to improve the setting of the Monument and St Magnus the Martyr Church through the provision of a new office building of the highest quality. The proposals include the parallel re-alignment of the fa£ade along Lower Thames Street, eliminating the current stepped, terraced, arrangement and simplifying the building£s massing to provide a more satisfactory appearance, particularly the prominent south west aspect from London Bridge and the south bank. The main entrance has been repositioned to a central position and a colonnaded loggia, which also accommodates a repositioned high walk access stair along Pudding Lane, has been introduced. The building is clad in Portland stone, incorporating floor to ceiling windows set within finely profiled frames.
