New Build
"The premise for the design has been carefully considered with the existing building acting as the catalyst for the “fan” -shaped proposal. All rooms, structure, and distribution of elements refer back to the original enclosure, radiating outwards to the external serpentine stonewall forming the boundary edge and cellular bedrooms. The “space” between is the living space, encapsulated within new and existing fabric: roof-scapes and their articulation define the separate spaces. In particular the “ziggurat” roof above the living space follows the internal surface of the interior walls of the bedrooms “peeking out” into the landscape capturing east and south light. Aesthetically, the proposal refers to agriculture rather than dwelling in it’s linear low profile organic form and simple materials of stone, Keybemo roofs with part sedum and timber windows which is appropriate to it’s immediate context, in particular the backdrop of trees, hedgerows and the rolling fields."
