David Nossiter Architects Limited

The conversion of an existing concrete and steel framed barn in the Weald of Kent Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty into a contemporary dwelling. David proposed that the existing precast concrete frame be left exposed internally within the building and a new insulated external envelope installed. The building has been carefully integrated into an overall landscape strategy. Window openings to the landscape facing elevations are to be obscured with a perforated mesh over cladding. This will allow light to enter to building and views out, but will maintain the appearance of a solid agricultural building in the landscape. The contemporary barn conversion will boast an open plan arrangement organised around a core of cellular spaces maintains the scale of an agricultural building and allows for lofty spaces and long views. Full planning Approval has been granted, the team have developed the detailed design and the project is being tendered to potential contractors for the build.
