This simple dovecote was one of three designed for a country house, to stand at the end of an 'avenue' as an 'eye-catcher'.In the event one of my alternative, more complex designs, was executed. All three, however, were designed to be constructed from local materials and were of traditional construction, in keeping with the nature of vernacular farm buildings. Though acting as a working dovecote, all three designs were intended to function as decorative features within the landscape, drawing the eye towards the working countryside and forming a 'marker' between the country house garden and its estate.
