New Build
The client wished for a large swimming pool complex around an open-air swimming pool. I designed the whole, which was sited on a new site adjacent to the house; everything was new to the site - there was no footprint to follow/constrain. The complex is designed in the Arts and Crafts tradition and makes use of oak, wany edged boarding, high quality brickwork, stonework, and handmade ironmongery. The swimming pool is housed within an enclosure, open on one side to overlook paddocks, and is intended to read as a converted 18th century walled garden. The pool house, which has a kitchen, shower, and sauna, also has an open loggia/sitting/dining area with a large stone fireplace. For this space I designed the console tables and refectory table as well as other specialist fixtures and fittings (stone fireplace, ironmongery, chimney pot, etc etc). Light fittings, lead work, Versailles planters, were - as with almost everything else - sourced by myself for the client.
