University of Greenwich, Avery Hill, Refurbishment of the Dome These new facilities for students and staff at the Avery Hill Campus are located in an existing building originally designed to provide student bars, events space and a canteen. With a change in the structure of the site the events space was no longer required and the focus switched to providing a more appealing environment for a daytime use café and coffee bar and for a new health club facility. The positions of the various functions within the floor plan were completely reorganized and new openings were created both through external walls to give views of the surrounding landscaping and through the roof to provide natural light and ventilation to the interiors. A new zinc and glass entrance was created to make the facility much more attractive to users and visitors to the campus. The new facility provides dining accommodation for up to 300 students and staff in a variety of WIFI enabled spaces which are fitted with a choice of furniture allowing reconfiguration to suit dining or working and meeting in groups.
