Listed Building - Grade II, Alteration to existing property

Practice

Daniels Thiede Architects

20 Albemarle Road , Manchester , M21 9HZ , United Kingdom

Conversion and extension of a Grade II listed cottage forming part of a former mill estate. Having secured the project in limited architectural competition we succeeded in gaining approval for an extension to the property which the client failed to achieve previously. The project required extensive research and consultation with Calderdale Council and received praise from English Heritage for its design approach in relation to the historical building which entirely reflects their philosophy of ‘Constructive Conservation’. Works are currently progressing on site and the client is delighted by the emerging transformation of a previously dark, damp, and convoluted interior into a bright, warm, and modern home with spectacular views over the Colden Valley.
