The building that faces the High Street is a timber framed manor house of late C16 or early C17 origins with brick facades. There are additions dating from C18 & C19 as well as a large modern extension at the rear. Prior to conversion it had been empty for many years. It was in urgent need of repair and regular maintenance. The applicants, Moorcroft Manor Ltd sought Change of Use from B1 to D1 (educational). The proposed use would provide premises for a specialist educational day centre for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Planning permission and Listed Buildings Approval were obtained and work was undertaken to refurbish the premises in line with the requirements of the use.
