Listed Building - Grade II
High House , Harlington Road , HILLINGDON , Middlesex , UB8 3HX , United Kingdom
Full conservation based restoration of large Victorian conservatory to the rear of the main school building, which is grade II listed. This dates from 1858 and is Tudor in style comprising 5 bays with later 3-bay extension to the south. The brief was to restore the conservatory to its original condition as far as possible. Roof drainage and the safety of the glazing were prime considerations. The transparent roof glazing had been replaced many years ago by Georgian wired rough cast glass and several panels of plastic sheet. It was decided to re-glaze the roof using Georgian polished plate to re-gain transparency whilst achieving safety and longevity. The metal framework needed to be stripped of all paint and assessed for treatment. The lantern required removing as the timber framing sections were rotten. The project was delivered on time and within the budget.
