We identified 5 sites across the London Borough of Sutton to provide infill housing on derelict council land. We designed and built 28 homes across the borough. We developed a family of layouts and material treatments allowing for standardisation and either modular or traditional construction. It is envisaged that further sites will be realised and become part of a rolling house programme. The design principles were informed by the ‘Good Quality Homes for All Londoners’ supplementary planning guidance which sits alongside the London Plan. Scandinavian design, familiar forms, chimneys intended to fresh air ventilate the dwellings. Stair cores have natural light, with large windows in the main living rooms providing daylight. Throughout our design, we tried to hold onto the general amenity, the smallest moves make the biggest difference to everyday lives.
