New Build
Push-Pull House, located in an Established Residential Area of Special Character in Amersham, is a playfully creative, light-filled new-build family home, built of Cross Laminated Timber exposed throughout the interior, and clad externally in dark stained larch boards over a locally-sourced brick base. The design ruptures the volume of a traditional pitched house, pulling it into three parts and cracking open the roof to pour light into the heart of the home. The architects have pushed and pulled the footprint of the original house to better suit the family, orientating the new house towards the garden, making it a natural extension of their home. This progressive modern timber home has been achieved through exposing its structural panel system to draw in daylight in twenty different ways; working with privacy and frontage to orchestrate daylight and views.
