Scammell House , 9-12 High Street , ASCOT , Berkshire , SL5 7JF

The existing property was a three bedroom 1930's detached house close to the River Thames. The solid wall construction and original Crittal steel single glazed windows created a very cold house with high energy bills. The client wanted to fit a new heating and hot water system whilst extending the property to provide a minimum of five double bedrooms and a large open plan living space to the ground floor. Through extensive negotiations with the planning department Create achieved the requirements of the brief whilst through a large full height and width rear extension and, with the raising of the ridge line and roof pitch, created an additional master suite on the second floor with dressing room and large en-suite facilities. To minimise the heat loss of the new property Create wrapped the existing and new walls in a deep layer of insulation prior to applying a flexible render system. With the addition of thermally efficient powder coated aluminium windows the energy bills are reduced whilst the house is now a warm family house. The ground floor has an office, utility room, play room, living room and a large open plan dining and kitchen with a moveable island as the central feature and a hub for the family to gather around.
