Scammell House , 9-12 High Street , ASCOT , Berkshire , SL5 7JF

This project was designed by Am Sondh whilst working at a South West London practice. The practice were involved in a competition to design new build family home which would accommodate a family, their young wheelchair user and the required carers. To provide some independence and privacy separate entrances were incorporated which in turn lead to individual living areas. The wheelchair users bedroom was sited on the ground floor providing easy access and pleasant views of the landscaped garden. There is a guest room within the roof void area at first floor level with the treat of the accommodation arranged over the ground floor. Generous corridors allow for easy manoeuvring and a ceiling track hoist system allows movement between different rooms. Electronic sliding doors provide privacy whilst enabling independence for all. Externally the entrance provides parking for four vehicles and landscaped gardens with connecting paths provides outdoor amenity space for all the family. Shelter will be provided by a large canopy.
