Residential Extension Commission: East Oxford, Oxford, Oxfordshire 4. Client: Private Client. Type: Rear Extension and Loft Conversion. Brief: This project, now complete, is a single storey rear extension and loft conversion to a terraced property in East Oxford. The existing property is victorian in era and is set over 3 floors with a modest rear garden. Our client wanted to make significant alterations to the rear of the property to create a large open plan kitchen / dining / living area. This space was to be modern in finish and feel but had also to complement the existing property. Fold back glass doors open onto a new patio to the rear. In addition to these works, alterations were also made to the loft in order to create a new master bedroom with en-suite facilities. To maximise space within the loft the rear wall of the property was extended to create an additional storey when viewed from the rear. A 2 storey property is still be apparent from the front with lead clad dormers added to provide headroom where needed. Build Cost: Approx £140k. Status: Completed September 2009.
