Alteration to existing property, Listed Building - Grade II, Within a Conservation Area
Briefed to extend Grade II Listed Regency era garden flat to create a new kitchen and dining area, as well as a new bedroom, providing better access and privacy to a rear garden space that can be used year-round. The property had been poorly converted in the 1960's with many problems including damp, low ceiling heights with little or no acoustic insulation, no direct access to the garden which was badly overlooked from the flat above. We solved all these issues striving to restore and celebrate the original features of the building whilst, also providing a sympathetic yet contemporary exension that is well linke to the garden, and maximising the ceiling height within the extension to invoke a feeling of space throughout the entire home. https://crawfordarchitects.co.uk/projects
