Our clients had recently purchased this semi-detached Victorian property and were keen to explore ways to increase the size of the kitchen / dining area, add a utility space and improve the links between the house and the garden. Our response was to remove a dilapidated conservatory and add a side extension which connected to the rest of the house via a glazed winter garden. A utility area was located centrally, and the change in level between the front and back of the house was minimized by designing discrete level changes between the connecting spaces. We introduced a number of roof lights and retained much of the existing fabric to form a unique and well thought-out family home, with the kitchen becoming the centre of activity.
