The Practice was engaged to upgrade and extend the existing school to accommodate a pre 5 unit serving the Ross of Mull. A single storey pitched roof extension provided a staffroom and classroom with slate roof and Cedar timber clad external walls to compliment the traditional stone gable buildings. The procurement constraints required a winter working period on site and a timber lightweight and glulam structure were chosen to allow off site manufacture to minimise the effects of weather disruption on this remote site allowing the facility to be completed and open in advance of the Easter term as planned.
