The Brief was to design a cottage for a retired language teacher with a passion for classic French literature and to focus on the family garden, devised by her parents for the previous dwelling. Set on a private road near Barnham, the first floor is designed as a private space with a reading gallery leading to the master suite. The ground floor is focused on social space and entertaining, framing differuing views of the garden as you pass through from one space to the next. Designed as an ecohome the building betters 2024 regulations and continues to be a joy to visit whenever we are passing!
