A modern-day extension designed to embellish and restore a period property back to it’s previously superior status. Attention was taken to keep the new extension as subtle and relative to the context in a way to revitalise an attractive but otherwise unkempt part of Swaton. What results is a re-interpretation of the Georgian building, attempting a symbiosis between the church, the natural landscape and the existing house. The glazing and dark grey casement suspends the metallic pod from the rest of the building floating it amongst the foliage and St Michael’s Church.
