The result of the regeneration of Glasgows waterfront, Glasgow Harbour Phase 1 is a major new residential development consisting of 650 apartments, duplexes and penthouses on the Clydeport Authority land in Glasgows West End. Cooper Cromar together with Taylor Woodrow won a design competition to design 50% of the first phase. The five buildings, which are arranged around a waterside public square, range from 7 to 19 storeys and contain a total of 321 flats above basement parking. Materials used are blue-grey Alucobond rainscreen cladding and bronze rainscreen planks, Gima terracotta block and grey and white render using a Powerwall render system. Large expanses of glazing make full use of the natural daylight and views over the water. The development is the residential lead phase which will lead to further commercial development and infrastructure works. The completed Glasgow Harbour project envisages 2,500 homes, 500ft2 of retail and commercial space and will include a new Transport Museum for the City.
