Common Ground Workshop has completed a Pilates studio, PT and retail space over two levels for leading west-London boutique fitness provider ‘Ten Health and Fitness’ at Embassy Gardens, Nine Elms. The space fronts directly onto the vibrant Union Square and is the latest site in the award winning operator’s expanding portfolio, providing a unique health and lifestyle offer at this burgeoning South-West London location. The proposal makes full use of the existing double height retail volume, providing a centralised full height atrium around which the project programme is wrapped, with a series of Retail PT, private therapy rooms, a Pilates studio and male/ female changing rooms flowing seamlessly from ground floor to first floor mezzanine level. The material palette is minimal and tactile, with Maple wall panelling and glazed window framing extending visually over the two levels, punctuated by mid-green painted timber joinery and ceramic stone tiling. The unit enjoys an abundance of natural light from the central atrium that serves as a lantern illuminating the functional spaces around the central volume.
