Common Ground Workshop were appointed by IKON Build to provide architectural services under a design and build procurement route to develop a workspace fit-out for ‘Eland Cables’ Located on Jamestown Road, Camden. Situated adjacent to the canal and the bustling Camden Road, the 5.5K sqft site will become the client’s new headquarters, featuring flexible and contemporary workspace over two levels. The design brief called for a sustainable and adaptable spatial response that could align with the company’s core values and for the team to adopt re-use, recycling and upcycling principles throughout, as well as opportunities for changes of use pattern over time. The space has been designed to offer a warm and attractive adaption of the existing unit, with a reconfigured layered lighting and services design, staff break out and lounge space, and a large communal open plan kitchen punctuated by planting throughout. Soft spatial buffers have been adopted, including fabric curtains, creating a series of informal meeting and break-out spaces.
