Southwark
£50,000 to £99,999
Alteration to existing property
Previous flat which is situated in Southwark had lovely characteristics, high ceiling, steel windows, but lacked character and colour therefore did not make the art collection stand out. This encouraged the Client to want something more ambitious and exciting, suitable for his art collection and central London lifestyle. Using vibrant colours against backgrounds of neutral colours creates a contrast in the rooms which gives us the opportunity to control the point emphasis and create the desired feeling in specific spaces. Along the way there were a few challenges. Practicality for storage areas and laundry limited the amount of open plan spaces we intended to create. This raised a few questions as to how we could create flexibility between spaces and consider changing bedroom sizes to accommodate better entertainment spaces. Making the main social space more open and better connected was our main focus. This was done by enlarging the guest bathroom and making it an efficient use of space by integrating the utility services. This allows for a kitchen island and also subsequently clearly defines a new dining area. Large piece of joinery stretches from the lounge into the dining area, providing lots of space for a library and nic-nac storage. Sliding panel allows areas for a guest room, quiet office and a big entertainment space. Whilst having open spaces around the flat we have created lots of integrated storage, designed to fit books and treasured objects
