Listed Building - Grade II
Bryngwilla Lodge , St Martins Road , Gledrid , Oswestry , Shropshire , SY10 7AY , United Kingdom
Built in 1820, Shellbrook Hill is thought to have been designed by a pupil of Sir John Soane. The project involved the removal of some of the 'modernisation' works that were undertaken in the 1930's. These included large steel water tanks fitted into the roof space to supply a new plumbing system, lowered ceilings to accommodate the tanks, a bathroom and Crittal metal windows. The windows were removed, openings bricked up and the external waste and rainwater downpipes rationalised. The internal layout, ceilings and pattern of the windows were returned to the original arrangement, reinstating the symmetry of the principal elevation. A new en suite shower room was discretely accommodated within a former maid's cupboard.
