This domestic project in Redbridge, London E11 transforms a previously divided kitchen, dining and living rooms into a single substantial room with large glazed doors and rooflights to provide a bright, open and contemporary living space which has become the focus of family life and acts as the backdrop for the Client’s passion for entertaining. A zinc-clad side extension provides utilitarian spaces together with an east facing patent glazed roof to capture the morning sun and provide an ideal space for family breakfasts. The loft has been extended to provide a new master bedroom suite with generous ceiling heights to the underside of the pitched roof and a large contemporary dormer window offering wide views across the landscape of mature suburban gardens.. Throughout the house traditional materials have been used to provide a truly modern aesthetic whilst carefully balancing old and new within the constraints of the local Wanstead Park Conservation Area.
