Microsoft Research headquarters at Twenty-One Station Road, Cambridge forms a key part of the CB1 Station Area regeneration, delivering a flexible, sustainable workplace. The brief required a high-performance office supporting collaboration, wellbeing and future adaptability, with efficient floorplates capable of subdivision for multiple tenancies. Environmental strategies include a high-performance envelope with deep reveals and external shading, enhanced daylight and natural ventilation, and solar thermal systems contributing to hot water demand. A central atrium and interconnected communal spaces promote interaction and visual connectivity. Designed with early tenant engagement, the building achieved BREEAM Excellent, combining workplace innovation with long-term operational and environmental performance.
