Brief: To design WRFC’s new community sports facilities on a new site. Detail: The project includes a new 2 storey club house which will provide 8 changing rooms, a rehab gym, 2 bars and a function room catering for up to 200 guests. The appearance and aesthetic of the building was designed to reflect the agricultural nature of the neighbouring buildings and land, whilst the natural materials and details have been chosen to unify the proposal with the local vernacular. The materials and overall mass of the building are used to create a low profile, barn-style appearance that blends harmoniously with the site and mitigates any harmful affect on the surrounding landscape. Aside from rugby, the club facilities will offer sporting and leisure facilities to the local community all year round. Awards: The project won the “Integrated and Collaborative Working” award at the 2019 Norfolk Constructing Excellence Awards.
