New Build
In 2006 Cassidy + Ashton were appointed by James Hall & Co (Southport) Ltd to provide full architectural services in relation to a new build mixed use development in Preston. The project involves the construction of a new 500,000 Sq Ft food production and distribution centre, with offices and associated staff facilities, in addition to a petrol filling station and crèche. The very nature of the distribution centre dictated a large structure within the site creating a visual impact within the surrounding area. This impact has been minimised where possible avoiding any intrusion to the habitat surrounding the site by means of the form, materiality and landscaping. Within the site landscape has been used to structure the development by the creation of parking areas, a large wetland area and mounding on the boundaries of the site. Full Planning Approval was received early in 2008, and the Construction works on site began in autumn 2008. Completion is expected in summer 2010
