Located in Hoxton this redundant brick warehouse has been refurbished and transformed into Jasper Morrison’s design office and studio. The site is accessed by a narrow passage the result of a previous alley connecting back to a terrace of brick housing on whose party wall lines the existing warehouse steel and brick frame were framed.The project required a sensitive response to the conservation area context. The fabric of the existing building required matching of the brick material. Parts of the existing building interior were demolished to provide a new city courtyard.The building retained many of the existing steel details, floors were finished with rough sawn oak boards and natural asphalt tiles responding to the previous workshop history on the site
