The project involves the refurbishment of a flat located in Wheat Wharf, a Grade II listed building within walking distance of Tower Bridge. The building is an early to mid-19th century, 4 to 5-storey timber framed, external masonry load bearing walls with a pitched slate roof construction. In the 1990s the warehouse was converted to residential flats on floors 1 to 5 inclusive, with commercial use at the ground floor level. The interior of the building is entirely timber-framed with 5 aisles of square posts with bracket spreader caps supporting floors and a queen post roof. Our proposal involved a comprehensive reconfiguration of the flat's interior, embracing a contemporary aesthetic while preserving its warehouse character. Outdated elements were replaced with high-end, trendy features, ushering in a modern and stylish transformation. CASA A+D services included feasibility studies, space planning, interior design, 3D modelling, acoustic advice, listed building application, liaison with freeholder and heritage officer, production of drawings and reports, materials source, bathroom and kitchen detailed design, joinery design, lighting design, building control liaison, tender process, contract administrator, procurement and site inspection. The construction was completed in January 2025.
