The kitchen was in the extension and felt very separate from the living area, a lovely room with high ceilings from its previous use as a shop. Extending at the side of the kitchen allowed both spaces to be linked but still function separately. The existing two storey party wall enabled the new ceiling height to be the same as in the main house
