A contemporary extension and refurbishment of a 1960's CLASP system building formed the basis of this 2 and 4 storey development for Ashorne Hill Management College, together with re-cladding the envelope to bring the aesthetic and thermal performance of the building up to date. As retained architects for the college we worked closely with them at every stage, ensuring their business operated whilst works were carried out. The project was both technically and structurally challenging and achieved with a supportive design team, clear communication and client interface . The building is connected to a listed structure and close negotiating with the local authority secured planning consent in January 2011, with the works completed in October 2011, all part of a fast-track design, detail and procurement process. The project included the formation of a mezzanine floor and a 2 storey glazed extension overlooking the grounds to form restaurant open space to create an additional 80 covers for the expansion of the overall facility.
